Quotes

‘Man’ means ‘mankind’ not ‘males’. It is traditional inclusive language. ‘Humanity’ does not go with ‘God’ (’God and humanity’) because ‘God’ and ‘man’ are concrete nouns, like ‘dog’ and ‘cat’, while ‘divinity’ and ‘humanity’ are abstract nouns, like ‘cainininity’ and ‘felinity’ or ‘dogginess’ and ‘cattiness’. Whatever the political or psychological uses or misuses of these words, that is what they mean. We do not undo old injustices against women by doing new injustices against language.
- Peter Kreeft

God is self sufficient. He doesn’t have any needs and therefore He can’t be bribed. He doesn’t have any flaws and therefore He can’t be blackmailed. He doesn’t have any weaknesses and therefore He can’t be coerced. You can’t get His arm behind His back and make Him do a thing He doesn’t want to do. He is free. “Our God is in Heaven. He does whatever He pleases,” Psalm 115:3
- John Piper

He loves Thee too little, who loves any together with Thee, which he loves not for Thy sake
- St. Augustine

That’s like a vegetarian butcher!

He who speaks most, knows least.
- Socrates

If there is “Something Behind,” (the existence of the universe) then either it will have to remain altogether unknown to men or else make itself known in some different way. The statement that there is any such thing, and the statement that there is no such thing, are neither of them statements that science can make.
